Keeping bees started as a lock down project in 2020 when the “opportunity” to spend more time at home meant more time in the garden.
Trying to grow a range of vegetables led to a better understanding of how important our pollinators are and clearing away a forgotten corner left an ideal hive-sized space.
The first bees arrived as a swarm that summer. I don’t think you’ll know how it will be to open up a colony of bees until you do it and fortunately I was hooked. Bees are endlessly fascinating and there is always something to learn.
